How Barts assesses Phase 1
- Each year has five sections, Papers A to E: continual assessment (A), a written paper (B), data interpretation (C), an OSCE (D) and student selected components (E).
- Paper B, the written paper, applies to the whole year, so revise each block as it runs.
- Blocks follow the 2024/25 handbook order, and dates shift each year. Graduate Entry (A101) follows a different structure, which this page does not map.
- Barts publishes the official dates and formats. Always check your own course materials.

Reading is half of revision. Each unit above links to matching single best answer questions on SimpleMed+.

Getting ready for clinical
Phase 2 (Years 3 and 4) is clinical, and Phase 3 (Year 5) is the final phase.

Module names, Year 1 abbreviations and Papers A to E follow the published 2024/25 handbooks. The Year 2 abbreviations (including HSPH), the article groupings and the sub-headings are our own. Always check your official course materials. Last updated October 2026.
